GETTING TO SAN FRANCISCO

San Francisco has three major area airports: San Francisco (SFO), Oakland (OAK) and San Jose (SJC). Each airport has a different set of advantages. SFO tends to be the most expensive to fly into but it is the closest to the city (approximately 20-30 minutes without traffic). It also has the most delays due to weather and fog. OAK is located across the bay from San Francisco (approximately 30 minutes without traffic) and is less susceptible to fog delays than SFO. Both OAK and SFO offer easy connections to ground transportation busses and the BART subway system. Visitors arriving in SJC will have to take a shuttle bus or coach from the airport to downtown San Francisco (approximately 1 hour drive). We do not recommend renting a car as parking is very expensive. You will not need a car unless you arrive well before, or stay later than, the conference, and plan on visiting outlying areas.

If you do not have much luggage, we recommend that you take the BART subway system into the city. If you choose to take a taxi and get caught in San Francisco's traffic, it can take a while to untangle, which would make for a very expensive cab ride. To avoid the worst traffic, we recommend that you plan your arrival either between 10 am and 1 pm or after 8 pm. If you choose to arrive at another time, just know that it may take you longer to get into town. A shuttle bus will get you to the hotel for a fixed price, while cabs are metered according to time and distance.  Consult the official website of the San Francisco airport for more information on transpiration options, prices and schedules.

The Association has not negotiated special airfares as our experience has shown that you can find much cheaper airfares on your own than we can negotiate on your behalf.

LODGING INFORMATION                                                BOOK YOUR ROOM HERE NOW!

The official hotel of the conference is the Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, where we have secured for our delegates an unheard of hotel rate of only US$145 per night plus tax! If you have never been to San Francisco, trust us when we tell you that this is a very, very good rate. Recently renovated, all rooms are like new, and wireless Internet is available so you can be sure to stay connected to your office while you are here. The hotel is also offering a reduced parking rate of only US$24 per night plus tax. We know that San Francisco can be an expensive city and we worked very hard to make the lodging portion affordable for as many delegates as possible. After all, any extra cash in the budget is better spent eating out, right? We would like to recognise Hyatt Hotels for working with us to devise an affordable package for our delegates.

CONFERENCE MEALS

Our 2004 Conference delegates noted that the food quality was quite a bit above typical food offerings at other industry conferences. We assure our delegates that the food quality will be equally as spectacular at our 2005 Conference. Would you expect anything less from a culinary association? We know the food will be spectacular because a couple years ago, Hyatt introduced its Unconventional Cuisine program at all of its convention properties. The program is founded around unique and memorable eating and drinking experiences specifically for convention delegates. Additionally, the hotel's Executive Chef, Michael Anderson, is a member of our Conference Advisory Board. We know that you will be quite pleased with your food and beverage experience at the Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf!
